Most people look at the inside of a house and if t's really clean and well cared for, they assume that the rest of the house is in the same condition. Don't you believe it. For one thing, most homeowners will never go into their crawl space, so they don't know that they have problems. And some attics cannot be used for storage, and have access through a ceiling in a closet. so the homeowner never goes up there either.
While inspecting a home in franklin that was spotless on the inside, and looked as good, if not better than a new home, i was reminded by the inspector of why inspections are done on a great looking house.
A bucket in the attic to collect water from a leak in the roof. This is a nice home in Franklin with a newer roof. The home owner had never been in the attic because it had very limited access, and you could not store anything in it easily. A twisted dryer vent in the Crawl Space that had eventually failed and was now depositing aof the material and moisture into the crawl space causing a fire hazard.
